Through the Woods

I think that I cannot preserve my health and spirits, unless I spend four hours a day at least - and it is commonly more than that - sauntering through the woods and over the hills and fields, absolutely free from all worldly engagements. ~Henry David Thoreau

An Unexpected Snow

And your love has fallen upon me
like an unexpected snow

As if I'd fallen asleep to
a lifeless gray and brown landscape

Only to awaken to find
A field of gentle snow
bright, soft, cleansing, wonderful

Turning my ordinary
into magic
